The shift towards raw and authentic content by personalities online is becoming more apparent every day. People seem to be flocking towards more unedited and authentic content. This is something that is necessary in today’s realm of social media but cannot be guaranteed to be original or genuine on any social media that is currently available. With Vlogmi’s upcoming launch, we’re excited to fill this gap in the market. The positive outcome of these changes in social media will benefit the upcoming generations who are growing up on social media. Genuine content is more popular, and healthier to consume for the vast majority of users. This trend can be seen with vlogging and the popularity of many disposable camera accounts on social media.

YouTube star David Dobrik has begun development on his new social media app Dispo. Modelled after his initial camera app David’s Disposable, which would act as a disposable camera. Users can only use their back-facing cameras and have to wait 24 hours for the images to develop before they can see the photos they took the day before. Reddit cofounder Alexis Ohanian has helped raise $4 million for the app in their seed round.

David Dobrik is currently acting as the company’s CFO (Chief Fun Officer), while his popular assistant and business partner Natalie Mariduena is the company’s treasurer. They have recently hired a team that includes a lead developer and designer, with more positions open for hire as well. It is uncertain what the social media aspect of this app will look and feel like, but David Dobrik said that his mission is to “preserve the community and connections that these raw, authentic, unique photos create.” The development of Dispo and the attention it’s attracting shows how much people want this type of content.

This can also be seen with Vlogmi’s vision and functionalities. Vlogmi only allows users to post videos and images taken directly from the in-app camera, ensuring that all posts that are seen on the app are original and authentic. No reposts, no external editing. Large strides are being taken in the search for a more unfiltered platform. Dispo by David Dobrik is a step in the right direction. With Vlogmi coming out right around the corner as well, the new generation of social media users are going to have a much healthier and fun environment to grow up on.
