The Covid-19 pandemic has impacted businesses around the world, many of which have been struck negatively due to the quarantine and social distancing measures. This has been an ongoing obstacle for Vlogmi as well. Here is how we have been coping for the past 6 months.

The pandemic hit us hard as a company, but also as a family. We are no longer able to go to meetings. We have to be very wary whenever any of us leave the house. The lockdown in the Philippines has been highly militarized and no one has felt safe leaving the confines of their homes. This led to us stocking up on food and rarely leaving the house.

Our regular schedule looks something like this: wake up, make instant noodles, work until nighttime, play Minecraft, sleep, and then repeat. My brothers and I do this basically everyday without fail. Some nights, our whole family gathers in our home office and watch movies all sitting in our respective office chairs, turning our office into a living room as well.

My older brother Luke and I also spend a lot of time annoying our eldest brother LeRoy (all out of love of course). We follow him wherever he goes; or make him watch raunchy reality tv with us in the office. We spend lots of quality time together aside from just getting on his nerves, we also have heated discussions about ethics and philosophy. We also occasionally attack him in Minecraft, maybe we are always on his nerves. I’m sure he’s quite sick of us now, at least he can’t get away from us!

Aside from all the goofing off and Minecraft playing, we’ve managed to get an incredible amount of work done during this time. Due to the restrictions, we’ve been subjected to just staying inside and working all day, everyday. This has paid off very well, as it has given us time to really focus on not only our app but also the corporate side of the business. Our dad has helped us immensely with that ever since the beginning when Vlogmi was merely an idea. We also manage to get into very deep topics with him and our mom about the direction of Vlogmi and other topics.

It’s very grounding to have a team like ours, that cares not only about the business, but about each other. We live with one another, so we have no choice but to be around each other every single day and get along. The wildly different perspectives allow for difficult but necessary conversations about the best path to take for the company and as individuals. I wouldn’t change this team for anything!
